Victoria Hurst
Victoria Hurst is a distinguished abstract painter whose career is marked by an impressive range of education, exhibitions, and curatorial work.
Victoria holds a BA Honors in Studio Art and Biology from James Madison University, where she also studied at the Academia of Florence, focusing on art studio and art history.
Her work is rooted in the intricate realms of dreams, the unconscious, and the soul. Her practice delves into the intersections between science, alchemy, and the collective unconscious. Using oil, ink, watercolor, and casein, she aims to capture the profound experiences, fleeting moments, and intangible truths discovered along her personal and introspective journey.
She invites viewers to consider their own subconscious landscapes and the silent, often overlooked transformations within the soul, inspiring reflection on the interconnectedness of our internal and external worlds. Over the past five years, she has shifted into action painting, a move that has deepened her connection to the collective human unconscious. While painting, she acts as a conduit, allowing energy to flow and transfer while in a meditative, trance-like state. This practice has resulted in a large and diverse body of work that intimately documents her personal experience.
