Minimal NYC is excited to bring to its space the first solo show in New York and the first gathering of javier trugeda works
Kiri-Kari, which stands for “let's go together”. Embodies the traditions of the Suri tribe, passed on through word-of-mouth by their people, a timeless lore.
With his keen eye, Sergio has captured the vitality, resilience, and cultural customs that take place amongst the diverse Ethiopian society. Throughout his last two years of travel to Ethiopia, he has drawn together an outstanding collection of the natives of Ethiopia, as well as their lifestyle and landscapes.
Kiri-Kari inspires an often tabled discussion; that is, despite being humans living within the same timeframe, our dimensions of experience as individuals are vastly different.
The contrast between our realities, our societal idols, the things we consider priorities, as well as our issues, concerns and interests are evident. Yet the human experience, in all the forms it takes, continues being the invisible thread that keeps us all connected.
During his trips to Ethiopia Sergio had the opportunity to met with the local ngo, OMC, Omo's Morningstar Children. An organization that focus on supporting school education in South Ethiopia, primarily for girls as they are not given the same opportunities to attend school. We will have prints from the exhibit art as well as original drawings from Sergio's extended work to sale. 20% of the benefit generated from these sales will go to OMC.
