Javier trugeda

b. 1991 Santander, Spain

Javier Trugeda, a Spanish artist from Santander, studied Fine Arts at the University of Castilla-La Mancha and completed the master’s program at the SOMA Educational Program in Mexico City.

Trugeda's artistic endeavors have led him to exhibit his work in cities like Madrid, Santander, and New York. His specialization lies in ink on paper, showcasing a deep interest in comics and drawings. The essence of Trugeda's work is a unique blend of humor and drama, presented in a psychedelic style.

His art seeks to offer a comic perspective on life while intertwining deeply dramatic elements, creating a visually striking and emotionally evocative experience. This approach reflects his desire to explore the complexities of human experience through a lens that is both whimsically comic and intensely dramatic, often leading to surreal and thought-provoking imagery.

His recent research has focused on the relationship between text and image through various editorial projects. Influenced by 1960s comics, his recent works have moved towards more pictorial, pseudo-narrative visual proposals where text serves as a starting point to stretch a visual semantic field.
