Gannon Mcmullen
Gannon McMullen’s artistic journey began in Omaha, Nebraska, under the mentorship of renowned artist Jeremy Caniglia.
This early guidance provided him with a solid foundation, leaving an indelible mark on his technique and influencing the themes he explores in his work. After relocating to New York City, McMullen entered a transformative phase of his education at the esteemed Grand Central Atelier, where he honed his technical skills and deepened his understanding of the importance of life drawing.
His artistic sensibilities have been shaped by a wide range of historical masters - from the haunting chiaroscuro of Francisco de Zurbarán and Caravaggio to the introspective, emotive works of Odd Nerdrum and Kathe Kollwitz.
Driven by a profound desire to capture the subtle melancholy and quiet moments that define the human experience, McMullen employs sensitive observation and masterful techniques in his practice. Through his work, he aims to evoke introspection and emotional resonance in viewers, encouraging them to reflect on the profound beauty and complexities of everyday life.
